REAL IMPORTANT WATERING TIPS & POST-HOLIDAY TREE RECYCLING
Hi there! We hope everyone is having a most wonderful Christmas season so far! Here’s a funny tidbit: Despite having our very own Christmas tree farm this year, our family don’t have our tree yet.
After all of the time we spent at the farm getting ready for opening weekend, and all of the times we thought to ourselves “we should pick out our tree before things get crazy” — we just never did. And now we’re almost halfway through December already.
Don’t worry yourselves too much though, Pat’s birthday is on Sunday and he’s more than happy to spend the day going to the farm to pick one out, decorating it at home, and watching the Bills — so that’s what we’re going to do.
In the meantime, we wanted to share some tips for watering and caring for your own real Christmas tree and some exciting news about our brand new tree recycling program. Here are those tree-watering tips:
If you water daily, your tree should easily be happy and healthy to kick of 2025. Once the holidays are over and you’re ready to take the decorations (and sadly the tree) down, we’ve got an option for you to consider.
The Treetop Acres Tree Recycling Program
When we realized how many Christmas trees are discarded and end up in landfills after the holidays, we knew we wanted to do something to help — because there are multiple ways to repurpose used trees in environmentally friendly ways.
We’ll be collecting used Christmas trees at the farm this January — so people can bring their trees to us and we will make sure they have a positive ecological impact, rather than contributing to waste.
We are super excited to be partnering with a farm that has several goats who think used Christmas trees are a major treat! Goats love to eat evergreens and they are a nutritious and natural snack for the animals.
If we collect more than the goats can eat, we will mulch the trees right at our farm and use the mulch for landscaping, erosion control, or as a base for our walking trails — all of which enhance soil health.
This program will do great things for our adorable goat friends, and soil, in addition to minimizes the greenhouse gas emissions associated with decomposing organic waste in landfills.
So, stay tuned for more details on when and how to get us your tree — and when the time comes, consider closing the loop on your holiday celebrations by helping us create a greener, more sustainable community—proving that the spirit of giving can extend far beyond the season.
In the meantime, continue enjoying those beautiful trees and time with your families — and don’t forget to tag us with #visittreetopacres in photos of your decorated tree!
