hello november
It’s the beginning of a new month and officially the start of the most wonderful time of the year.
Here at the farm, we are officially in crunch time - with just 28 days until our opening day. Things are happening fast and we are learning more and more every day. At times it feels like we’re drinking from a firehose – but people in the Christmas tree farm community have been so helpful that we can’t help but feel grateful.
Last weekend Pat was able to spend all day Sunday working with (and learning from) John Fuerch, the founder and original owner of Treetop Acres. He’s been kind enough to agree to mentor us and show us the ropes as we get ready for our first season and there’s no doubt that his 35 years of experience is invaluable.
Aside from the operational tree-side of the business, we have a lot of exciting things in the works for our opening weekend. It’s not lost on us that our second day open is Small Business Saturday. In addition to partnering with Nineteen Coffee to have their coffee trailer on site serving a really fun menu of holiday beverages and treats all weekend, we’re also working with Erin and her roaster to create a really special holiday coffee blend you’ll be able to take home with you. It’ll be perfect for gifting or enjoying on Christmas morning. Both ground coffee and beans will be available.
In addition to having our very own coffee, we’ll have a small, highly curated selection of holiday items (like cards and wrapping paper) and gifts made by some of our very favorite small businesses including Tiny Buffalo Design Co.
This weekend we’ll be harvesting pine needles to send to the other businesses in our family — Beekeeping It Real — and they’ll be using them to handcraft an evergreen beeswax soap that we can’t wait to smell (and sell).
We’re also very excited to have some amazing folks from Niagara Frontier Search and Rescue joining us throughout the weekend — to help us keep tabs on Santa Claus and make sure his visits to the farm are safe.
The Puppies in the Pines mini sessions benefitting Nickel City Canine Rescue are all sold out (yay!) and just three spots remain for dog only photos.
We’ll also have branded Treetop Acres apparel and merch available for sale at the farm — and you’ll be able to find t-shirts, sweatshirts, beanies, and more here on our website very soon. Stay tuned to our Instagram and Facebook for announcements on when things go live.
In between all of the event planning, mowing, sign making, tree tagging, and wreath making practice we’re also working our full-time jobs and planning our wedding so things are feeling a bit busy and hectic – but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We’re having a lot fun and we can’t wait to have you all visit the farm so very soon!
In the meantime, thanks again for following along here. We’re so glad to have you on the journey with us.
