EXCITING NEWS, PUPS IN THE PINES,AND WREATH GOALS
We have a very exciting (and important) update: We finally have a closing date for the farm! It’s been a very long journey to get here and we couldn’t be more excited. Or relieved.
We were confident it would happen, but due to very real seasonality of a business like this, we had to start making all kinds of plans before we officially owned the farm. And to be honest, that was a bit nerve-racking,.
But as predicted, all is on track to work out just fine.
Pat and I are going out of town to do a backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon this upcoming week and the closing is scheduled for right after we return.
BUT FIRST, A weekend visit
With the closing now on the calendar, we were able to bring the whole family to the farm this past weekend – which was both really nice and super helpful. We hadn’t been out there in a while and the visit allowed us to figure out what we’ll need to do to (after we close) to get ready for opening day and the season.
YOU’re invited to our
Opening Day CELEBRATION
Our Opening Day Celebration is happening the day after Thanksgiving — Friday, November 29th — and will be the first day you’ll be able to choose and cut trees. We’ll have a bonfire going, there will be games and activities for the kids, and Nineteen Coffee will be serving up coffee, espresso drinks, fancy cocoas, basic cocoas, sweets, treats, and even pup cups.
We’re doing pup cups, because not only will we be a dog-friendly farm all the time, but for opening day we’re teaming up with the amazing Marlee & Me Photography to host a limited number of family mini-sessions and dog-only photos. We’re calling the event Puppies in the Pines - a Christmas photo fundraiser and all session fees being donated to Nickel City Canine Rescue.
Nickel City Canine Rescue is the incredible organization that saved our pup Pierogi from ending up in a kill shelter — and we are so excited to be able to do something to help support them.
#WREATHGOALS
In other news, FedEx showed up at our house with A LOT of boxes this past week. We are now the proud owners of a wreath making machine (that Pat is going to build a custom table for), wreath frames in many difference sizes, and two Bowdabras — which make it easier to make big, beautiful bows from wired ribbon.
I also found some really awesome ribbon when I was at Costco, so I’ve officially started my bow making. I’ll need to ramp up quickly because I’ve also set a goal to make at least 75 fresh wreaths and 25 table centerpieces for our opening weekend.
We have wonderful family and friends who have offered to help, so we may even host a pizza, wine, and bow-making night at our home - to give us a bow boost.
gearing up FOR A GREAT TIME
Between learning so many new things, figuring out important things like where to put the portapotty and how to do the pricing, and all of the hundreds of other things that pop into our minds daily - we’re getting pretty busy and working hard.
But we’re having a really great time, we’re excited, we’re energized, and we just got a Nespresso machine — so I’m confident that will see us through.
With so much going on, we’ve been posting more on social - so if you’re interesting in seeing more photos and updates be sure to give us a follow on Instagram and Facebook.
As always, thanks so much for following along!
